I don’t purchase many physical books anymore. My personal library exists mostly in the digital realm. The exception to that is my reference collection. Any book that I use to help me understand, learn, or remind myself how to do something goes into this collection.
A few months ago (I think) Merriam-Webster released the 12th edition of the collegiate dictionary. It also turns out that I didn’t have a dictionary in my reference collection which is odd given the number of books on writing I own from my college days.
Carrying the tome of words to the counter of the bookstore Matt commented that it’s always a good idea to have extra weapons on hand for self-defense if needed. I smiled. It is indeed.
This is the last book purchase for 2025.
