I have been teaching myself how to draw in Procreate very very slowly. It’s another skill that is teaching me to let go of perfection. This little character is from one of the many “you can draw this” tutorials on YouTube (Art with Flo) I’ve gone through several of their tutorials and really enjoy them. This particular one was actually a tutorial for graffiti art but my primary interest was the octopus itself.
I wanted to draw something for swatching fountain pen inks. Similar to how I use a stamp in my ink journal. I’ve also been contemplating potential mascot ideas for Inks and Drinks NTX (an octopus named Inky – I know … so original.)
Instead of following the entire tutorial I focused on sketching (I’m not great at it in Procreate. Barely can do it on paper – but it’s a good skill to learn) and line work. I even made changes. Flo originally had the octopus be a cyclops and I wanted it to have two eyes.
For my current purposes I didn’t need to go through the coloring process but I might do so later.
Anyway, this was what I spent the last couple of hours doing this evening and I think Inky is a cutie.
